When
Whimsy left this life, we were alone and disappointed. We did everything it
was possible to do to save her and she was, finally died after three month
of a terrible and a tiring fight against the death, and we lost. This check
was very heavy hard for us, then we needed to do something in her memory,
our life was so empty suddenly, she was during three months the centre of
our life and suddenly it was finish, nothing to do…We decided to marry her
daughter Finland and decided to give to each puppy a name in relation with
their Grand’Ma, a little bit like if we needed to stick her among the world.
Of alive people. Promise entered in our life with her four brothers and
sisters. I was broken, sad and very stressed by this recent decease. Each
time, it’s the same thing, when I loose a dog I’m like a zombie, I’m the
shadow of myself. I just need time, a lot of time, but I know how I react.
This litter came at a bad moment, just before summer. We
spent then more time with the pups because it was holiday’s time. We decided
to keep Promise, she was a nice gray bitch, quiet and friendly. We were a
little bit afraid with her. When she grew up, she became very ugly
physically. The coat was harsh, didn’t grow, and she was brutal. My husband
used to say that I did a mistake when I kept her. Ah if I kept our little
Pêche (another sister), everybody would agree, but this poor Promise had an
horrible and hard challenge to do, she came only few months after her
Grand’Mother’s death and she was no Pêche, the preferred of all the family.
Time passed and we started to love her. She grew up, has
changed, but she was often ugly : no fringes on the ears, a top line not
really perfect, no coat on the body and an ungrateful face. My husband use
to say that she was the own cairn terrier of the house , and it was real she
was like a Cairn terrier with her wild bore ‘s moustaches. But, when she was
three, she started to change, fringes started to appear, the coat on the
body came, and she became more easy to live with. She was very attached to
Lloyd Cole. He was her Man. She spent all his life with him, until he died.
Very often, Skyes used to live in group per two subjects, these dogs were a
real team. A story? Even if Lloyd Cole was a very strong male et very
voluntary, I didn’t take him off promise even when she was in seasons, each
time he tried to mate her, she bumped to him and obliged him to stay in a
corner of the kennel. I think he had for her a real respect and he didn’t
mate try to mate her against her will. Promise had
some pups when she was four et she changed a lot after. She became more
quiet, more patient, and her coat became very beautiful and long. Now, she
is a wonderful bitch, full of coat, I cut very often her dress, she started
to have nice fringes, she has a perfect Top Line and a nice neck. She became
more elegant, she is very nice now. As you can see all hopes are allowed.
What about Shows? It’s not her cup of tea… She accept to be shown, when I
want but she is no so happy. I just hope for her to finish her international
title, just to have something on her pedigree, she won already three CACIB
on the fourth necessary..Promise dislike the others bitches. She wants to be
the boss and it’s sometimes difficult to live. One day, in a fight, she had
a big damaged with one ear, and the nature repaired it very well. She hates
Nouckia and Finland. I must keep these bitch separated. But anyway she is a
very interesting bitch. I think she suffered a lot when her boy friend is
dead, and she doesn’t want any male around her. Perhaps, she is an solitary,
our Promise ? Promise Done To Whimsy came on this
world in memory of her Grand Mother, which is still in our heart, but we
don’t forget that promise is an unique dog and we love her for all her
quality and her own personality. Promise, a funny little Madam…
